Hi Mike,
Working through the 1950 Guide to the Coalfields
Brithdir - not in index
Broomlands - Dreghorn - Not yet in production - Electricity is in use
underground - Agent: J. Boyd - Manager: J.C. Brown (3920)
12 and 4 employed
Mortonmuir - Lugar, Cumnock, Ayrshire - Not yet in Production - Agent:
G. Lang 13 and 4 employed. Tel: Cumnock 3281 (Shown on map as being
slightly to the North-west of the hamlet of Mortonmuir.)
There is a photo of Mortonmuir in "Mining - Ayrshire's Lost Industry" by
Guthrie Hutton, showing a drift being built in a cutting, prior to
backfilling. The text says "The sinking of Mortonmuir Mine at Cronberry
was begun in 1948. It was one of the NCB's short-term drift mine and
this picture shows the top of the shaft being laid. The mine opened in
1950, but according to local people never produced a lump of coal. This
is no doubt an exaggeration, but earlier mining had apparently removed
most of the coal and Mortonmuir closed after only four years."
Oaklands - not in index
Seneley Green - c/o Park Colliery, Garswood, near Wigan. Coal -
Household and Steam Wigan Five Foot Seam - Electricity is in use
Underground - Developing - Manager: J. Bradshaw (3203) (Park Colliery

Hope this helps.
