I have to agree with Tony. Archaeological excavations at Harris's Mine, Combe Martin, adjacent to the mine shaft head, have revealed stratigraphy which concludes that the mine was working in the late 18th century (dating from artefacts) for which there are no records, and between the main recorded periods in the 19th century. Startigraphy revealed 16 different context periods of working.
