Both works in the developed (Pew Internet Project, 2003) and
developing world (Dzidonu, 2004) show email as the killer application
of the Internet (references and links below).
I don't know why (and I would be delighted to find out), but I am too
among those that feel forums as "foreign lands" with respect to
emails. I've always assumed, however, that it depended on my ADHD (by
virtue of which the lesser number of links and features, the better).
