One of the interesting sidelights to this conversation for me has been
noticing the simple fact that taken together, FQ 1 and 2 are already
longer than the Aeneid or Paradise Lost, and the 1590 FQ is already
longer than the Divine Comedy or the Iliad, or anything else on the
Wilson-Okamura list except for Ariosto.
Speaking of the list, a couple of queries: why no numbers for the
Odyssey? Do your number for the FQ include the Mutability Cantos? both
endings to Book 3?
