All I know is that they published a whole lot of texts, including a number
by John Taylor the Waterpoet, as I recall. I have the impression that this
was one of those gentlemanly amateur scholarly enterprises the Victorians
enjoyed rather than anything very Spenser-specific or devoted to archival
research per se. Some of the volumes were reissued (by Burt Franklin?) in
the last century, and very handsome they are. Anne P.
