The School of Health & Social Care, with over 7000 students, has now been
deemed excellent in all subject areas through 6 academic reviews over the
past 4 years. It is renowned for its successful partnership working with
Health & Social Care Services on such matters as modernisation and changing
workforce. Its Enterprise and Research Portfolio continues to expand on
several fronts and we now wish to enhance such, within a new institute of
health sciences research, through the following significant appointment.
Rehabilitation research is focussed in the Centre for Rehabilitation
Science, which is a joint venture between the School and South Tees NHS
Trust. It is exceptionally well equipped, in that it incorporates a state
of the art movement analysis laboratory comprising a 7 camera vicon system,
2 moveable Kistler Force plates, a system 3 pro Biodex with a closed chain
attachment, Physiological data acquisition system (Biopac) and a Gaitrite
instrumental walkway. There are currently 7 full time members of staff,
10 – 15 part time members and part-time and full-time research students.
You will be responsible for leading the Centre, possess a PhD in the
subject area, have evidence of research income generation, relevant
research outputs and research degree supervision.
