As the co-organiser (with Andy Browing) of the speaker programme of
the NAHMO 06 meeting, I can confirm that theme will be mining
landscapes; this was mentioned to the NAMHO council at their meeting
a few weeks ago. We have a draft programme that was submitted to
the chair of the local organising committee last week. This needs to be
approved by the committee and we can then release it. We do have
intentions of including a short section specifically on the practice of
mining archaeology. As Mike has said, we need co-ordination between
this event and any other prospective meeting; I am sure this thought
has also occurred to NAHMO council members!. Speaking personally, I
would hope we can get the provisional list of seminar topics out as soon
as possible, although until we can confirm speakers, some of these will
necessarily be rather vague.
