MPhil/PhD Studentship in the School of Nursing & Midwifery
The School is pleased to offer a full-time studentship on a topic which will contribute to the body of knowledge of nursing and/or midwifery and to the programmes of research supported by research groups within the School.
You should be a registered nurse or midwife with a first or higher degree in a relevant discipline. The studentship comprises full fees and a stipend of £11,500 per annum for 3 years. Support will also be given for conference attendance and some other expenses. You will be registered initially for an MPhil degree, and are expected to transfer to the PhD degree within the first year.
Research should address one of the research topics listed below.
· Colonising futures: an ethnographic study of scientific innovation in pre-implantation genetic diagnosis - Dr Clare Williams
· Maternity care case studies (industrialised or developing countries) of different forms of healthcare governance and the effects on organisational outcomes - Dr Susan Murray
· An analysis of the emergence of midwife-led birth centres in England and the implications for the maternity workforce and for childbearing women - Prof Jane Sandall
