Hi
Does anyone have the contact details for disability groups in Jamaica? I have heard of the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities (JCPD) and would be interested to find out more about what they do, where they are etc.
For a while now some colleagues and I have been talking about making some links with disability groups in Jamaica. This is because we are a new and developing organisation of and for disabled people in London and would be interested in sharing skills and finding out about disability in Jamaica. We feel that as a disability group in London we could learn many things from and share our skills / experiences with others that may also benefit from communication from us.
Sadly, a colleague of mine is attending the funeral of her aunt and will be in Kingston, Jamaica for 3 weeks from the 20th May 2005. However, as a very active disabled person herself she wants to also spend some time finding out more about disability in Jamaica and so she has asked me if I could help her find some contacts that she might be able to visit who she could discuss and explore the question 'what is disability like in Jamaica?'
Please then could you pass me any contact details and information about disability groups in Jamaica.
Many thanks,
Stephen Lee Hodgkins
