Good morning, especially to my Canadian colleagues and friends,
A number of people in Canada have indicated to me that they are having difficulty getting a copy of _FOUCAULT AND THE GOVERNMENT OF DISABILITY_ (University of Michigan Press, 2005), the collection of essays I edited. Copies of the book are distributed in Canada by the University of British Columbia (UBC) Press in Vancouver, not the University of Michigan Press distributor in Chicago.
Yesterday disability theorist Richard Ingram at UBC drew to my attention the fact that UBC Press wouldn't have more copies of the book to distribute for at least four weeks, and that people in Canada cannot take advantage of the 30% discount offered for _FOUCAULT ADN THE GOVERNMENT OF DISABILITY_ at the U of Michigan Press website (see the last two lines of my email signature).
When I read Richard's email, I contacted the marketing director at U of Michigan Press about the situation. He has assured me that more copies of the book will be available from UBC Press in two weeks time (UBC Press underestimated the demand for the book!). He also apologized for the oversight about the discount. Negotiations are under way to have a similar 30% discount page set up for the book at the UBC Press website. I should have more details about this soon.
Thanks very much to everyone who has bought the book to date!
Yours truly,
Shelley Tremain
