Subject: Amendments to funding for Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art & Design
Importance: High
AMENDMENTS TO FUNDING FOR DIPLOMA IN FOUNDATION STUDIES IN ART & DESIGN
Following representations to the LSC, agreement has been reached with them that their proposed funding rate cut for the Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art & Design) for 2005/6 from £2,765.93 to £2,393.80 will not now take place due to the destabilising effect this might have on some institutions.
However, you should be aware that the LSC, as part of its agenda for change programme, is reviewing the whole funding system. This may lead to some significant changes to FAD and other course funding from 2006/07. Work is currently ongoing in this area and we understand that further details will follow from LSC later in the year.
CHEAD will continue its dialogue with the Learning Skills Council in relation to the impact of this for FE providers in HE and on progression routes to art and design.
