I have made strong representations about this. Rumours abound that our
cluster is way behind schedule (what a surprise) and that the first choice
software is being measured critically against another one and found
wanting.
What really astonishes me is that this is all grand scale
wheel-reinventing. There are two or three competent ED programs out there,
all of which are not being progressed as the NPfIT steamroller has decreed
that the programs will in future all be PAS extensions (in effect) -
modules which in the past are addons thrown in for free to make it look as
though the PAS supplies all the answers for a particular system builder. I
have not yet seen one that is as competent as ED programs that are now
otherwise obsolete.
I am being assured that it will all be completely flexible and
configurable to our needs - for which read unfinished/buggy/broken. Does
anyone listen? Guess.
