Hi there,
I'm finally having another go at LCG installation, putting 2_4_0 on top of
a clean SL304 distribution (note SL not SLC). I'm still in the process of
trying this but, unsurprisingly, I already have a few questions, based on
the "generic installation instructions".
Apologies if some or all of this has been explained on LCG-ROLLOUT, but I
can't find it if so. (The search facility doesn't seem to like underscores
or punctuation, which doesn't help.)
In site-info.def:
Does BDII_HOST refer to the site or top BDII? I'll assume top for now.
Is WN_LIST needed if the Torque server is not on the CE?
Why is GRID_TRUSTED_BROKERS listed as required for a CE? The description
seems to apply only to a MyProxy server.
Why does BDII_REGIONS have such a misleading name?
What is the format of GLOBUS_TCP_PORT_RANGE? Does it take the usual
default value if not set? (It is not in the example site-info.def.)
Will I get in trouble for using both YUM (which was configured by default
when I installed Scientific Linux) and APT (which is used by all the YAIM
scripts)? Will either get confused when some packages are updated by the
other? Or can I just replace apt with yum in all the YAIM install scripts?
What is the best way to get the site up and running so it can be tested
but not attract production jobs?
That's enough questions for one evening. See/hear you at the deployment
meeting tomorrow.
Cheers,
Ben
