Folks,
We now have enough confirmed attendees (13), so the meeting will be
going ahead. If you haven't already confirmed, please let me know if
you're going to attend.
The agenda is as proposed :
1230-1300 Arrive at Strathclyde
1300-1305 Welcome
1305-1335 Discussion Topic : 'joined-up-thinking' or 'whose web is it
anyway?'
Smaller entities within an institution may want to develop a system
quickly for their own use, but the system would be useful in a much
wider, institutional context. Institution-wide systems are generally
handled by Corporate Systems / IT Services type functions who can be
constrained by timescales, resources, priorities, etc...
1335-1405 Discussion Topic : "How to use web technology to further
involve all staff / students in developing / improving systems."
e.g. Portal development - in order to make it rich enough to be truly of
benefit to all, we need to devolve production of and responsibility for
web-content to 'non-techies'. Discuss ideas about how, and how far, this
can be done using what tools we have available to us at the moment.
1405-1435 Coffee
1435-1505 FOI / Records Management (Chris Milne, Abertay)
1505-End Brief Presentations / Q&A from each attending institution
covering :
- 'where we were'
- 'where we are now'
- 'where we'd like to be'
If you'd like to bring slides for this, please eMail them to me ASAP or
bring them on USB key or CD on the day.
Regards,
Duncan
