Sections 3.6 to 3.9 of the Retention guidelines for local authorities covers
Child protection.
The one that we use for the main child protection file is 3.8 Destroy 35 years
from closure of the case/file.
The accidents and incidents part of the guidelines only covers accidents on our
premises ie trips etc. Anything to do with a statutory obligation of a local
authority is covered elsewhere in the guidelines.

Hello all
We've been asked for advice on the legnth of time we should be keeping Child
Protection forms. Not just accidents on the premises, but incidents of
assault/suspected abuse. There is a 25 year period recommended in the RMS local
authority guidelines for accidents involving children, but would other incidents
be covered by this as well?
Thanks
Sarah Henning
