Sociology in Turku School of Economics on the forthcoming PhD course in
the field of consumption. Please find enclosed the relevant information
concerning the contents of the course "Explanations of Consumption and
Consumer Culture" and practical stuff about application. The same

Do notice that there are several eminent members of the RN Sociology of
Consumption attending the course either as lecturers or discussants.
The deadline is quite soon, so don't hesitate to send your applications

We are happy to inform you on one of the two Ph.D. courses provided by
the Network of Consumer Culture this year. The course/workshop
"Explanations of Consumption and Consumer Culture" will be held in
Turku, Finland, and the organizing university is Turku School of
Economics and Business Administration. The staff of Economic Sociology
is an active participant in the networks' activities, and thus we are
making our contribution for the common endeavor.
We would like to present you a compact 4-day workshop on various aspects
of consumption research. The course will be held in May-June 2005, and
the coursework will consist of lectures (8 in total), student
presentations and discussions. There will be two international (Alan
Warde, UK and Tally Katz-Gerro, Israel) plus two Finnish lecturers
(Terhi-Anna Wilska and Juha Panula). The lectures will also serve as
discussants in the student workshops side to side with local faculty
members from economic sociology.
We would like to encourage you to provide the information attached to
all your students and other contacts of interest. Please find attached
information on the course, including course program, prerequisites and
suggested readings. Please notice the application deadline, February 28,
2005. Do not hesitate to pass the message on to everybody you regard of
having interest.
