Dear All
See the folowing
Colin
For those of you who haven't heard, Liz Crow, disabled film-maker has a film ('Frida Kahlo's Corset' in the Birds Eye View Festival - but can't go to the final awards ceremony because it's being held in an accessible venue. So we're holding our own party to protest. Press are invited and some at least are definitely coming. Should be fun!. We'll be there from about 6.00. See below for details of address etc.
The film's on at The ICA on Sunday, as part of the Arts in Film session.
See you there!
All the best
Allan
Birds Eye View Film Festival Closing Night Party
Awards - Music - Barriers - Champagne - Cocktails- Segregation
Sunday 13th March 2005, from 7pm.
Tickets are now on sale for the Birds Eye View Film Festival star-studded Closing Night Party and Awards Ceremony. But don’t bother if you’’re a wheelchair user - you can’t get in.
You can join industry and top celebrity supporters of our cause in commemorating the success of the UK's first major women's film festival (some women - we wouldn’’t want to be too inclusive). There will be awards presented by Jerry Hall (who doesn’t give a toss who’s allowed in as long as she gets paid) and our sponsors, Coutts & Co.(The Queen’s bankers, well known for their endlessly inclusive attitude to anyone with shedloads of money), and a live performance from Mercury Award nominated Martina Topley Bird ("sensual, non-disabled and endlessly inventive" - Mojo magazine) performing live with the John Hoare Quartet. Plus additional sounds from internationally award winning DJ Siren "It's like classical discrimination with a cool urban twist ". For more about the festival, ask any disabled person - just don’t look for them inside.
Join us in supporting this ground-breaking cause and celebrating the success of the UK’’s first major women’’s film festival at keeping out the cripples.
Our venue is the luxurious Café De Paris, one of Europe's stunning and exclusive venues, allowing you to enter on the red carpet into the decadent surroundings where you won’’t have to deal with anyone who’’s really excluded, with a circular mezzanine level. The Café has been the venue of choice for the Brits, MTV, the James Bond Party, a private Prince gig and a Vivienne Westwood catwalk show. (Yes, they all discriminated against Disabled People by hiring an inaccessible venue as well.)
Café de Paris, 3-4 Coventry Street, London W1D 6BL
