PUBLICATION OF REPORT: ADVANCE NOTICE
The Joint Committee on the Draft Mental Health Bill will publish its report
on Wednesday 23 March at 00:01 am (HL Paper 79-I, HC 95-I, Session
2004-05).
COPIES OF THE REPORT
Advance copies of the report for witnesses to this inquiry and the media
will be available under strict embargo for collection from 11.00 am until
3.00 pm on Tuesday 22 March from Westminster House (Dean Stanley Street
entrance), London, SW1P 3JA. These must be requested IN ADVANCE (strictly
by 6.00 pm on Monday 21 March) from Alison Mara, Committee Assistant (tel:
020 7219 8388).
Note: Because of building works the main entrance to 7 Millbank will be
closed on 22 March. Reports have to be collected from the entrance to the
building in Dean Stanley Street.
Oral and written evidence will be published separately as Volumes II and
III of the report (HL Paper 79-II and III, HC 95-II and III). Copies of
Volumes II and III will be posted to those who gave oral evidence to the
Committee, if not collected on 22 March. Those who contributed written
memoranda to the inquiry will receive copies of the report (Volume I) and
can obtain copies of Volumes II and III on request from the Committee
Assistant.

The report will also be printed as an easy read guide which, for example,
people with learning difficulties may find useful. Requests for this guide
should be made to the Committee Assistant. The guide will also be on our
website.
Notes to Editors
The two Houses of Parliament established a Joint Committee on the Draft
Mental Health Bill which was published by the Government on 8 September
2004.
The remit of the Committee was to consider the draft bill and report on it
to both Houses by 31 March 2005. The Committee will publish its report
making recommendations on 23 March 2005. The Government has to consider
and respond to the Committee's report.
