Interesting, Mike, thanks. I'm not sure I fully understand how you're
proposing the extension data type be used, but under heading "4.2 Data
elements" the LOM standard says:
"Extensions to the LOMv1.0 base schema shall retain the value space and
datatype of data elements from the LOMv1.0 base schema". My reading of
that is that you may only apply your proposed data type to extension
elements, i.e. additions to the LOM base schema, and not to the elements
defined in the base schema--however, I've never been 100% that is the
full, correct interpretation: what do you think?
