Steve,
The Starjava set is not really one unified whole, it's a number of
different library and application packages some of which have
interdependencies of various kinds. The only thing which ties it
all together is the build machinery. Thus, as with the classic
starlink software, it only really makes sense to tackle documentation
issues on a package-by-package basis.
I have no idea what EAST is and I'm not sure what you mean by
"how to add additional data format support for input and output" -
SUN/252 contains some pointers for how to do this if it's
table formats you're talking about
(http://www.starlink.ac.uk/stil/sun252/pluggableIO.html).
The HDX javadocs discuss how to do it for HDX-type things.
I'm currently working on a new package (CONNECT) which will facilitate
pluggable access to local or remote filestores such as MySpace and
(yes!) SRB. Again, this will come with its own javadocs.
