that's the general idea. To clarify some particular cases:
- Applications which use DATANODE (n\{'}ee Treeview)-style loaders
should be able to load data from items that DATANODE knows about.
- HDX has not been much used in any of the applications so it's
not really known how well it works
- NDX/NDArray has a design which allows for alternative implementations
of arrays, so you could in principle do this sort of thing with
array data, but one way and another it's not as well developed
as STIL.
