FORMATION OF UK’S FIRST SPORT MARKETING SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP CONFIRMED
The British Academy of Marketing has just approved the formation of a
Sport Marketing Special Interest Group.
You are accordingly invited to become a member of the SIG, to participate
in its development and to attend forthcoming events.
The purpose of the Sport Marketing SIG is to:
To stimulate interest in, and promote activities relating to, sports
marketing amongst national and international academic and practitioner
communities.
In turn, our aims are:
-To raise awareness of and promote interest in sports marketing.
-To enable academics and practitioners with an existing interest in sports
marketing to engage with other people who have related interests.
-To facilitate the development of new or improved research, pedagogical
and management practices amongst academics and practitioners.
-To enable the development of a network of academics and practitioners
through which developments in research, pedagogy and management practice
can be shared amongst those with an interest in sports marketing.
-To disseminate the importance and implications of excellence in sports
marketing research, pedagogy and practice to appropriate audiences.
-To assist in creating opportunities for people seeking funding in order
to engage in research and pedagogy in areas relating to sports marketing.
-To stimulate international interest in sports marketing with an emphasis
on creating opportunities for increased membership of the SIG and
collaborative research and pedagogical activity amongst academics and
practitioners.
During the next twelve months we will be seeking to:
-Produce a Sport Marketing SIG newsletter
-Build a Sport Marketing SIG Blog
-Run an event for academics and practitioners with an interest in Sport
Marketing
-Create a network of sport marketing academics and practitioners
If you would like to become a member of the SIG, contribute to its
development, attend one or our events or make suggestions about moving the
group forward, your input will be welcome. Please visit our Blog for more
