I fully agree with recent comments. I started a List discussion about Sharepoint 18 to 24 months ago, when the same points were made. Since then, MS has launched an updated version - so updated, apparently, that you cannot simply 'upgrade' to it, but need to purchase new licences - as part of MS 2003 package with XP Professional?
It has much stronger functionality now, but is still far from being an EDRMS. In my opinion, it has it's place, especially as part of lowish-cost pragmatic solutions, for smaller businesses, or integrated with other software. It is really a question of defining "fitness for purpose" when choosing a product. Needless to say, I am in process of buying something much more complex and powerful...and expensive...that best matches the needs of an international company.
