LECTURER IN HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE (Social Implications of Health and Illness)
£30,123 - £38,017 inclusive Ref CG/004336
This lectureship provides the opportunity to teach on the internationally
renowned MSc. in Medical Sociology and to shape its future. The post will
also involve contributions to teaching on the MSc Social Work and the BSc
Social Work. The appointee will be expected to have a proven record of
academic achievement and specialist knowledge in the social implications of
health and illness. Ideally the person will have specialist interest in an
area that relates to the research strengths of the department (childhood,
ethnicity, chronic illness, disability, mental health, health care
organisation) although specialists in any area will be considered.
The appointee will be expected to play a full and active role in the
development and achievement of the Department's aims and objectives. S/he
will be required to undertake research and teaching, including the
supervision of research students and must demonstrate a clear research
agenda and a publication record commensurate with the Department's Research
Strategy. The appointee should have a PhD or equivalent research experience.
In making this appointment, the Department is seeking in particular to
appoint someone who will maintain its distinctive collegiality and who will
also take initiative in developing new areas of research activity and
teaching and/or in building upon the Department's existing strengths in
these domains.
