medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I´m not sure with whom this query actually originates . . . Bill?
Anyway, is it perhaps a question of "more" or "less" secular?
There is certainly secular literature in medieval Iceland, and
even "secular" or perhaps "secularized" versions of some
literature that would otherwise be considered religious,
for example compilations in which the compiler has
deleted overtly miraculous material from a text about
a saintly bishop. Obviously the authors of all the works
mentioned were practicing Christians, but the works
themselves are designed with educational or historical
aims as instead of religious ones.
Hope this is useful,
Meg

Relax, I'll need some information first, just the
basic facts . . . (continuting with the Pink FLoyd
cite)
yes -- we're still out here.
QUestion: I am working on paper that claims that
there's no such thing as a "secular" middle ages. Any
protests, agreements, general comments, and works I
should look at would be greatly appreciated.
