We are currently studying the ecology of a shallow lagoon in the Western
Arabian Gulf. One of the dominant benthic species found in the sheltered
part of the lagoon is an unidentified species of chironomid larvae. We are
an unable to identify this chironomid larvae.
Photos of this species have been uploaded in the following URL:
http://faculty.kfupm.edu.sa/RI/rizwank/c_larvae/
Photo number 18 shows the hole body of the larvae. The other photos shows
different parts of the body in higher magnification.
Dr. Sean F. Werle of University of Massachusetts, USA has suggested that we
take close-up photos of the head of the fourth instar larvae to show the
head characteristics for making the identification possible.
We have taken photos of the head capsule from various angles. The photos are
uploaded in the following URL:

We appreciate any assistance form the list members in identifying this
species (even up to genus level if possible).
Thank you and best regards
Abdulaziz
