Peninsula Arts Contemporary Music Weekend: 25-27 Feb
New Music & Computer Music Research
Works by Spectrum Press authors Eduardo Reck Miranda, and Patricio da
Silva.
In collaboration with the Peninsula Arts Contemporary Music Weekend,
the Future Music Lab,
Computer Music Research at the University of Plymouth (UK)
announces a weekend of new music and research developments:
The University of Plymouth is quickly establishing itself as an
important European institution
for contemporary music and computer-based musicological research.
It hosts an exciting Computer Music Research team, involving staff from
different faculties across the university.
The weekend will feature both the music and the cutting-edge research
produced by the Computer Music Research team.
The Eade String Quartet will open this contemporary music weekend with
a concert of new music
at the Sherwell Centre, University of Plymouth,
featuring Eduardo Reck Miranda’s Wee Batucada Scotica, Claude Debussy’s
String Quartet,
and the world premiere of Patricio da Silva’s String Quartet.
This event is promoted by Peninsula Arts. Tickets £10 (FREE students).
7.30pm Sherwell Centre,
University of Plymouth
This will be held at the university’s Sherwell Centre, on North Hill,
from 7.30pm on Friday 25 February.
On Saturday, a series of presentations at the Stonehouse Lecture
Theatre, Portland Square,
University of Plymouth by resident researchers from the Faculty of
Technology
will discuss emergent topics on evolutionary music, musical man-machine
interaction,
and live computer music spacialization. Presentations start at 10am and
will continue
throughout the day, followed by a concert of live electronic music by
Nikolas Valsamakis,
and a reception for participants and audience at 9.00pm.

Dr Eduardo Reck Miranda, Dan Livingstone, John Matthias, Bram Boskamp,
Hilary Mullaney,
Peter Beyls, Patricio da Silva, and Andrew Brown.
10 am, Stonehouse Lecture Theatre, Portland Square, University of
Plymouth. Admission: Free
Don’t miss the presentation and demonstration dedicated to the
Brain-Computer Interface for
musical applications, currently in development at the University of
Plymouth.
Presentation by Eduardo Reck Miranda, Bram Boskamp and Andrew Brouse.
