Help the Hospices: User Involvement Group - A new initiative
Are you interested in getting involved or finding out more?
Help The Hospices, the national organisation which is responsible for
supporting independent hospices and palliative care services has set up
a group to develop user involvement at national and local levels. This
group will be made up of a majority of palliative care service users;
that is to say people with life limiting illnesses and conditions (all
kinds) who use or have used palliative care and hospice services or are
eligible to use them.
A planning group has already met - made up of a majority of palliative
care service user and we are now looking for more people who would be
interested in getting involved. Members of the User Involvement Group
will have all their costs met and are eligible for payment for their
contribution to the group (participants can choose whether to be paid or
not)
We are looking for people with the following qualities:
* Direct experience of or eligibility to use palliative care
services (eg hospice, hospice at home, or hospital/day hospital
provision);
* An enthusiasm for user/patient involvement and interest in
taking forward meaningful user involvement;
* A commitment to the work and objectives of the Group
* Some experience in getting involved and a confidence and desire
to work as a member of a team with other people to take forward user
involvement in independent palliative and hospice care.
If you think you might fit this bill or know someone else who you think
would, then please don't hesitate to get in touch. You can be sure of a
warm response. We want to recruit new people to the Group and will do
everything to make this recruitment process a positive and supportive
one. We are also keen to ensure that the group is a diverse one,
addressing issues of race equality, gender, age, sexuality, culture and
disability. All efforts will be made to ensure that the group works in a
fully accessible and comfortable way.
