Mobile Interaction: Individuals, Organisations and Infrastructures
London School of Economics
Department of Information Systems
SSIT 5 April 4-5 2005
The Department of Information Systems will host the fifth annual Social Study of IT (SSIT) workshop on the 4th and 5th April 2005. The two-day event will examine some of the essential issues of Mobile Interaction.
The workshop will focus on Mobility with regard to three key aspects:
* The individual managing their interaction at work using mobile technologies. Their experiences and emotions related to the day-to-day work through and with the technology.
* Organisational contexts where mobile technologies serve as a means of improving organisational performance through supporting remote and mobile collaboration.
* Global infrastructures affording the essential capabilities of mobile technologies through implementing local or global standards in a context of competition, markets and regulation.
The programme will be a mixture of presentations by distinguished invited speakers from academia and panel discussions involving key industry participants, affording the opportunity to consider theoretical perspectives and the implications of mobility in restructuring life experiences, work practices, and corporate infrastructures.
A draft programme is under preparation, but we expect the workshop to run from 9:30am on Monday 4th to the lunchtime on the 5th April. An informal PhD Q&A session based on a planned poster exhibition will take place from 2-5pm for the remainder of the second day.
Regular updates on the event can be found at www.is.lse.ac.uk/events. There is no charge for attending the workshop and refreshments will be provided. If you have any questions or comments, please email Emma Keys, Research Coordinator ([log in to unmask]).
