Dear Colleagues,
today I'd like to inform you about recent news concerning our European
System of Social Indicators, a tool to be used to monitor the life situation
of citizens - in terms of quality of life, social cohesion and
sustainability – as well as general trends of social change all over Europe.
Currently the European System of Social Indicators covers the former EU-15
member states, Switzerland and Norway, Hungary, Poland, and the Czech
Republic as well as Japan and the U.S. as two major reference societies. In
addition many indicators are already available for all the current EU-25
countries.
Time series data are now available at our website for 6 out of the 13
projected life domains (Population, Household and Family; Housing; Education
and Vocational Training; Labour Market and Working Conditions; Health;
Income, Standard of Living, and Consumption Patterns). Most recently also
time series data on the ‘Total Life Situation’ have been added. Among
numerous single indicators this module includes also a ‘composite index of
individual living conditions’ based on ECHP data:
