We used to call this a "Diamond Clerk-in" as surgical house officers. Heart-sounds, 2 lungs, and bowel all auscultated via the diamond gap created in the shirt when one button is undone.

The trifurcation is obviously the xiphisternum - this is the only obvious
reason for its existence!

Perhaps you mean the trifurcation point - well known to orthopods where
both lungs, the heart and bowel sounds can all be heard with one simple
placement of the stefoscope :)
