The error in the make dist target looked like this:
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/vmwareshare/rhel30linux_i386/build/build-home/ccdpack/tasks'
g77 -I/home/vmwareshare/rhel30linux_i386/build/build-root/include -fno-second-underscore -fno-second-underscore -L/home/vmwareshare/rhel30linux_i386/build/build-root/lib -o .f
g77: no input files; unwilling to write output files
make[1]: *** [.f] Error 1
It's related to what Tim thought but not exactly the same; it was a
trailing space at the end of a macro assignment line that it objected to!
One to watch out for.
