italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
We are currently translating The Pilgrim and the Book: A Study of Dante,
Langland and Chaucer, just the Dante chapters, into Italian, and finding
the Italian academic style forces us to make changes from the Anglo one.
For instance, citations to Dante are, Purgatorio XII 124. Without periods.
Citations to Biblical texts, Esodo 12,10. We have been following this model
wherever there are Roman/Arabic numerals in sequence, and similarly where
there are Arabic numerals only.
Instead of our more simple trans. and ed. it is trad. di and a cura di
Am also preparing the Tesoretto edition again, this time for an Italian
audience, and need to know how to indicate where a line is missing, or
transposed, etc. Any suggestions?
