Dear all,
It appears a message with a virus attached as a file made its way
onto the health economics list yesterday.
The sad little individuals who write these viruses are unfortunately
quite clever, this particular one (if the file is opened), among other things, burrows its
way into your computers memory, extracts email addresses and then uses
its own means to send out more virused messages, pretending to be from
those addresses. It can be quite difficult to trace the actual source of the message.
Your IT support will be able to help you if you are concerned.
The golden rule (which I'm sure most of you know) is not to open
attachments you aren't 100% sure of, I NEVER send a message to the
health economics lists with an attachment, if you receive any message
from the lists with an attachment please DO NOT open it, just delete it.
I'm sorry for anyone who was caught out by this, unfortunately these
things happen every now and then!
Cheers for now,
Bruce
