hello
there will be a lecture/meeting regarding climate change on:
wednesday 2nd Feb, 7pm in Lecture Theatre A, Nuffield Theatre/Bldg.
the lecture has been organised by the campaign against climate change
(www.campaigncc.org). the talk is to rally up people for the demo in london
(Sat 12th Feb, more details on their site).
the speakers will be:
Dave Hubble from Greenpeace
Phil Thornhill from Campaign Against Climate Change
Anna Hoyles from Globalise Resistance
individual action against climate change is important; however we shouldn't
let up the pressure on MP's and "world leaders", since ulitmately they're
the only one who have the power to pass laws which can make industrial
polluters change their practices. kyoto may be as dead as a doodoo, and even
when it was alive it was probably insignificant. it may have been a
miniscule step in climate change, but it was one gigiant leap for
international green politics. if we cant even get our MPs and "world
leaders" to agree in principle to co-operate and take steps in tackling
climate change then there isn't much point in us ranting. if you have time,
please bookmark the date.
in solidarity
