Camden House is pleased to announce the publication of
Bertolt Brecht's Dramatic Theory
John J White
Professor White's new study of Brecht's writings on the theatre is the
first in English to take account of the substantial new material in the
recently-published German edition of his collected works. It offers
in-depth analyses of the dramatist's canonical essays, ranging from his
notes of 1930 on Mahogonny to the unfinished Messingkauf project of the
late 1940s. Brecht's contribution to the theories of acting and audience
response are examined in detail, within the context of the debates of the
time and re-considered in the light of subsequent scholarly thinking.
