The Practical Philosophy Prize Essay Competition
Practical Philosophy in conjunction with the Society
for Philosophy in Practice is pleased to announce the
inaugural Practical Philosophy Prize Essay Competition.
GBP 500 (five hundred pounds) will be awarded to the
best original, previously unpublished essay or piece of
research in the areas of practical philosophy and
philosophy in practice.
Suitable topics include the discussion of philosopher's
ideas that have a bearing on how we should live,
philosophical methods that can be derived from them
or the practice of philosophy in areas such as philosophical
counselling, Communities of Enquiry and Socratic Dialogue.
Conditions of entry
All are eligible to enter, with the exception of members
of the committee of the SPP and and members of the
Editorial Board of Practical Philosophy.
All submissions will automatically also be considered as
submissions for publication in Practical Philosophy.
Submissions should not have previously been published
or submitted elsewhere for publication.
The judges decision is final; the prize may be split if two
or more entries are of sufficient standard, and may not be
awarded at all if no entries are of sufficient standard.
Young or previously unpublished authors, as well as those
with a longer publishing and research history, are encouraged
to apply. Those with a longer publishing history might want
to present the fruits of their research.
The closing date for entries is 1st March 2005.
