As a new CAQDAS user currently evaluating several different packages, I too
am interested in the replies that will come to Roberto's inquiry.
I am evaluating Atlas.ti, Nvivo 2.0 and MaxQDA for a secondary data analysis
of decades old psychosocial interview transcripts and audiotapes.
Theoretically, my initial analysis will be thematic, with more of a top-down
approach than a bottoms-up approach. That is, this is not a GT analysis.
On second pass, I may take more of a narrative approach, pulling out
important narrative episodes from the interviews for more detailed analysis
(perhaps using Gee's methodology).
When I began this project, I hadn't realized the possibility of coding the
audiotapes directly. I am busily digitizing these degrading tapes; being
able to code them directly would be wonderful (but not essential).
I am working in a Windows environment and will want to be able to move this
project from my networked home computers to my networked work computers, and
back.
If I should be evaluating other CAQDAS packages, please let me know.
Thanks in advance for the informed opinions of the list.
Best,

Roberto,
I do agree with the comments made by Thomas. More important than the
type of documents you have gathered, is the methodology of analysis
you will follow. Any special approach? Siéntete en libertad de
escribirme en español a mi correo.
