I disagree.
Believing what I believe about learning and cognition, I find it difficult
to even imagine a model in which the transduction process between sound
and meaning is anywhere binary, much less everywhere binary. ("Binary"
being here a shorthand for things that can be described as being in one of
only two states -- not for things that have only two parts, or whatever.)
