Project SWISh Development Officer – Fixed term appointment (ALC 2)
Applications are invited for the one-year, fixed-term post of Development
Officer for the South West Implementation of Shibboleth project (Project
SWISh). Project SWISh, funded by the JISC Core Middleware Programme, will
be administered by IT Services and the Library. The postholder will be
expected to fully realise the aims of this externally-funded project.
Applicants must have a good knowledge of running and configuring Apache and
Tomcat, UNIX and JAVA programming systems and excellent inter-personal
skills. Knowledge of Shibboleth, SSL, LDAP and SSO (Single Sign On) or
working with authentication systems and portal technologies would be
desirable. A proven track record of working to tight timescales and
successfully achieving project aims will be required. The postholder will
also possess significant experience of user evaluation and dissemination
methodologies. As well as these skills, the ability to communicate clearly
at a senior level is vital as line management will be via the project’s
working group. Some UK-based travel will be required.
The post, which will be subject to a satisfactory period of probation, is
available on ALC Grade 2 (£22507 - £29128) from 1st May 2005, or as soon as
possible thereafter, until 30 April 2006 (Fixed term).
