RESEARCH POST AVAILABLE IN TRANSPORT AND SOCIETY
The Centre for Transport & Society is now seeking to appoint a new Research
Associate/Fellow to join its research team. The post is for three years in
the first instance and salary will be on the Research Associate/Fellow
scale, £18,777 - £29,479.
The successful applicant will assume the role as principal researcher for a
challenging and exciting new research study entitled " Traveller
Information Services - Assessing Barriers to Their Use". Situational and
psychological factors that govern individuals propensity to use (urban)
travel information services are to be examined. Those with backgrounds in
transport studies and/or the social sciences are encouraged to apply.
'Transport & Society' has now been established as a research activity at
UWE for three years. CTS has grown substantially in this time and now
constitutes a team of some 20 people, many with backgrounds in the social
sciences. It is a cohesive and focused group and the dominant theme across
its research is understanding travel behaviour by placing transport in its
social context. The successful applicant for this post will share a keen
interest in this theme. The appointee will join a committed and
enthusiastic team and will be encouraged to play a full part in the current
and future research activities of CTS. There is the additional option of
contributing to teaching on transport courses at undergraduate and
postgraduate levels, including the MSc in Transport Planning.
