Post Doctoral Researchers and Research Studentships
Centre for Transport Research
Department of Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering
Trinity College Dublin
The Centre for Transport Research at Trinity College Dublin is seeking
post-doctoral researchers and is also offering research studentships. The
funding is from the PRTLI HEA programme for the establishment of the
Centre for Transportation Research and Innovation (TRIP), an
interdisciplinary research centre.
In the case of the post-doctoral researchers, the candidates will ideally
have a PhD focusing on transportation or in a subject having links with or
a potential application to transportation. A good publication record
would also be an advantage. The discipline in which the candidate has
studied can be civil engineering, business, economics, mathematics,
geography, computer science, electronic engineering, mechanical
engineering or other relevant discipline.
In the case of the studentships a good honors degree in civil engineering,
economics, mathematics, statistics, geography, electronic engineering or
other relevant discipline is required.
The research project topics will be formulated once the selected
candidates have been chosen as their backgrounds may have a bearing on the
type of research topic to be pursued. However, the projects are likely to
be in the following areas:
• Transportation modelling
• Socio-economic impacts of transport
• Traffic control
• Vehicle instrumentation
• Freight
• Impacts and use of information technology
• Public transport
• Quality of life
• E-commerce
The salary for the post-doctoral researchers will be in the range €
30,000 - €35,000/year. The student stipends will be €13,700 per year
subject to performance. Students will be expected to register for MSc or
PhD. College fees will be funded.
The researchers will be part of the TRIP Centre, funded by the Higher
Education Authority. www.tcd.ie/Transport_Research_Centre/
