GridPP PMB Minutes 156 - 7th January 2005
=========================================
Present: Tony Doyle, Steve Lloyd, John Gordon, Tony Cass, Robin Middleton,
Dan Tovey (by phone), Dave Kelsey, Roger Jones.
1) OC Documents
===============
The documents for the Oversight Committee including the
Resource, ProjectMap and Exec Summary reports are available at
http://www.gridpp.ac.uk/docs/oversight/
The logbooks are kept in a password protected area.
RM questioned the name of the Deployment logbook which is really LCG
Deployment.
TD said that his and DB's talks will have to be written over the weekend.
It was agreed that they would not be circulated over the weekend but on Monday
in time for the CB on Wednesday.
Notes:
1. the talks are now available from
http://www.gridpp.ac.uk/talks/#official
and
http://www.gridpp.ac.uk/cb/
2. the GridPP1 final project map
http://www.hep.ph.ic.ac.uk/CMS/IC_GridPP/WebVersion/ProjectMap23.htm
and the first release GridPP2 project map
http://www.hep.ph.ic.ac.uk/CMS/IC_GridPP/WebVersion/GridPP2_ProjectMap_1.htm
are now linked to
http://www.gridpp.ac.uk/pmb/
where the PMB documents list is also updated.
2) Vision Statement
===================
The previously circulated draft vision statement was discussed and updated
during the discussion and is also available at
http://www.gridpp.ac.uk/docs/oversight/
3) LCG support case to Science Committee
========================================
TC had sent an outline to TD suggesting to merge the old LCG Phase 2 document
together with the CRRB document from October. TD proposed to talk to TC and
then forward the proposal to the PMB.
TD reported that the he had talked to Dave Kant and the map which had been
down was now back up and improved with added GOC monitoring. See
http://map.gridpp.ac.uk/
4) Q4 2004 Reporting
====================
RJ has requested them by today. RM aims to complete by the end of January but
doesn't expect to get them to the PMB by mid February. TD hoped they could be
ready by the Collaboration Meeting. TD proposed the 15th of the month
following the quarter as a standard date.
It was agreed that the deadline for ALL logbooks was the 15th of the month
following the quarter.
It was also agreed that holidays should be included for funded posts for
purposes of accounting for funded effort (although RM said this was
contentious within EGEE).
5) Feedback on JPhysG
=====================
TD said the PMB should be required to read the document. TD said that some
information about GridPP1 from the recent OC documents could be included. TD
proposed an editorial board might need to meet to go through the whole thing.
An unsuccessful attempt was made to find a suitable date. Eventually it was
agreed that TD, SL would go through a final iteration once all comments
had been incorporated by SP from the collaboration.
Note: subsequently PC, TD and SL agreed to work through all parts of the
document in a meeting in Glasgow on 19th January. SP would provide
an update incorporating all comments received in advance of this.
REVIEW OF ACTIONS
=================
140.9 RM to finalise LCG Deployment Logbook - ongoing
143.1 TC to investigate making existing LCG source RPMs visible at CERN -
ongoing
STANDING ITEMS
==============
SI-1 ALL: to provide any news items and meeting dates for the web page to
SP.
There was a new news item on the LHCb software meeting. There is also a BaBar
news item in preparation.
SI-2 Production Manager's weekly report of issues.
TD said all the monitoring went down at RAL over the break due to a power
cut. Everything is thought to be back up. JG said they were looking into the
issues raised. A version of the map could be cached on the server. RM said
that the services were advertised as at risk over that period. TD said that
the GridPP web pages could also be cached somewhere other than at Manchester
(in case of similar power outages etc).
Next Meeting
============
The next meeting will be on Monday 17th January. DT noted he would
report on the UB meeting where some dissatisfaction with the Tier-1 shares
was expressed.
Note: this issue was also raised at the Oversight Committee and the
Collaboration Board, following the presentations by DB and TD.
