The first major conference on Tourism in Asia to be held in Europe for many
years will take place in June 2006 in Leeds, UK.
"TOURISM IN ASIA: new trends, new perspectives"
Leeds Metropolitan University, UK - 10-12 June, 2006
The conference will consider the important subject of tourism in Asia, in
particular the increasing volume of intra-regional and domestic tourism.
Key themes are regional cooperation in tourism, responses of the tourism
industry to new and changing markets in Asia, government policy and
strategy developments, ethnographic perspectives, comparative studies, and
case studies.
The conference is aimed at academics and students involved in research into
tourism in Asia, tourism professionals wishing to gain greater insights
into this growing market, and development practitioners keen to understand
how tourism can be used as a development tool.
The conference will take place from 10-12 June 2006 at Leeds Metropolitan
University, UK. It is organised jointly by the Department of East Asian
Studies, Leeds University, and the Tourism, Hospitality & Events School of
Leeds Metropolitan University.
