Applications are invited for a research position to work with Dr Sonia
Bishop, under funding from the Medical Research Council. The programme of
research uses fMRI to investigate the neural substrate underlying
attentional control over emotional stimuli and candidates are sought who
have an active interest in this research area. The programme also includes
projects focusing on other aspects of both prefrontal cortical function and
affective processing including genetic modulation of prefrontal and
subcortical function.
The successful candidate will assist with work on a number of projects. The
appointment will be made at either the research associate or research
assistant level, in accordance with experience. Depending on the level of
appointment, there is the possibility that the candidate can take
responsibility for one line of research within the overall program area. A
PhD in cognitive neuroscience or a relevant field of experimental
psychology, and/or experience with relevant techniques (fMRI, experimental
design in visual basic or eprime, programming skills) is desirable. The
start date of the appointment is flexible (between 12th December 2005 and
1st March 2006), the funding terminates on 30th September 2008.
