Kettering Cancer Center New York, NY for Programmer / Analyst
Description of Duties and Responsibilities: The Neuroanesthesiology Laboratory at MSKCC is conducting exciting research using
EEG/ERP, O-15 PET and fMRI techniques. The principle focus of research is the acute effects of anesthetic drugs on memory
processes. Sophisticated mathematical, statistical and computational approaches in image processing and data analysis are
essential to this rapidly evolving research field. The position entails: - Maintenance of Local Area Network consisting of 5
workstations and multiple laptops, a Windows based RAID-5 server, integration with hospital and off-site networks and
associated peripheral devices (printers, scanners, research devices, etc.) – Database management and secure backup procedures
- Participation in research software development - Development, testing and maintenance of Visual Basic, C and MATLAB
programs (both Windows and UNIX OS) for EEG data and brain image processing and analysis - Production of associated
documentation - Performance of complex image and data analysis - Preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals -
Interaction with hospital Information Systems personnel and scientists (software users) in the lab. Facilities include
behavioral / EEG laboratory, Neuroimaging facility with research-dedicated GE Advance PET/CT scanner, GE 3T MRI scanner.
Requirements: a B.S. or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering,
or a closely related field for the position. The candidate must have excellent programming and network systems analysis
skills in C / C++ in UNIX and Windows environments. Skills that would be a plus: MATLAB, Perl, SPSS or SAS, signal analysis
(particularly EEG), database and web-based applications. Basic knowledge of cognitive neuroscience and biomedical imaging is
a strong plus. Must be self motivated, resourceful, able to multi-task, prioritize and be a team-player, and have excellent
communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. This is a full-time position with generous fringe benefits.
