just two points (reflecting my two cents):

This may not be what you want since it is an f-contrast (i.e.,
non-directive). You probably want to specify a t-contrast in the
contrast manager, where a contrast of 1 will give you m>f.

This could be due to too big a cluster for spm to handle. Make sure that
you have all spm updates installed, since this was fixed last year by
