Come on everyone, lets save our energy and flame the first fellow who use
Windows High Performance Computing Edition. I like the mutliple
Blue-Screen-of-Death joke.
Advice for Win64: (0)MOST IMPORTANT : Get Matlab 64 bit edition. (0.0)Buy
enough Matlab licenses. (0.1)Make sure you have appropriate backup of all
your data. (0.2)Make sure you have sufficient RAM so that your computer
does not slow down because of it. (0.3)If using Networked File Storage,
make sure it can pump data at least as fast as the processor can consume
it. (0.4)Restrict the number of users who can access it and educate them
not to run more than n copy of matlab, coz it simply slows everyone down.
(1)Do not install any unnecessary software on it. FYI, Antivirus + firewall
software are NOT unnecessary software. (2)Users must NOT be allowed to
install any software. PERIOD. (3)Erects as much electronic barrier between
the computer and other computers. (4)Schedule computer to autoreboot every
30 days but make sure there is no running matlab job before reboot. (...)
(inf)And... after your adminstrators are thoroughly exhaused on "Patch
Tuesday" a.k.a. "Black Tuesday"
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patch_Tuesday), tactfully suggests that he
should consider linux. (Sorry, cannot resist either. ;P) (inf+1)Start
saving enough money for Window Vista, a.k.a., Longhorn.
Best regards,
Cinly
