Yes. You or the person who scans the subjects decides the acquisition
order which is entered in the scanner parameters (check the default
parameters of your acquisition sequence).
>always ascend along Z axis's direction?
No. This is also part of the acquisition parameters (e.g., order can
be "ascending" = "1 2 3 4 ..", "descending"= "20 19 18 17 ...",
"interleaved"= "1 3 5 ... 2 4 6...", etc.).
>relationship between the interscan interval and acquisition time?
TA = TR - TR/n
where n is the number of slices in one volume, assuming that there is
no delay between 2 adjacent slices.
