Maths & Computing Research Support Officer
Analysis Group, Oxford University Centre for Functional MRI of the Brain
(FMRIB)
The FMRIB Analysis Group is a large, dynamic group of engineers,
mathematicians and programmers, generating new research and software for
use in analysis of brain imaging data from structural and functional MRI.
We require a research support officer who is both strong in programming
experience and mathematically confident, to provide research development
and programming support for the senior researchers in the group. For
example, we need to develop new graphical and interrogative tools for the
interpretation of functional MRI analyses, and also need development of
low-level C++ classes to support development of higher-level mathematical
data analysis techniques. The post holder will also be required to support
and help train users of the analysis software generated by the group, and
help in generation of documentation.
The successful applicant will likely have a first degree in a relevant
engineering-oriented subject and possibly also a relevant higher degree,
with strong programming experience, preferably in C++. The post is to
start in October or November 2005, and will run initially for 18 months,
with the possibility of extension. The starting salary will be in the
range 20,540-29,12 (UK pounds), depending on qualifications and
experience. To apply, please send a covering letter and full CV (including
the full contact details of three referees) to The Administrator, Dept.
Clinical Neurology, Oxford University, Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, UK,
before 30 September 2005. For more details please contact Dr Steve Smith
